Counselling - Hypnotherapy - Coaching

Individual, confidential help with a wide range of issues

Jos´┐Ż Penrose

I have been a practising counsellor since 1989, and have built a wealth of professional experience both in my own practice and in a youth counselling service set in a multi-ethnic community. In 1998 I gained a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at Roehampton Institute. Feeling I needed more “tools in my toolbox”, in 1999 I completed a Diploma in Brief Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy with Uncommon Knowledge, a hypnotherapy training organisation based in Brighton. I have diplomas in both Performance and Life Coaching from Newcastle College of Further Education.

Alongside my private practice, I am affiliated to three employee-assistance programmes. In both settings my clients come from very diverse backgrounds and present with a wide range of problems such as stress, anxiety, abuse, addictions, bereavement, depression, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, relationship and sexual difficulties, and many other associated issues. I work with couples, with children from 5 years upwards and young adults. Whatever the problem, I always use an individually tailored approach for each client.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and an Accredited Member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, as well as a member of the Coaching Academy. I receive regular supervision from a professionally qualified supervisor and am committed to my continuing professional development. As I often work with children and vulnerable adults, I have a current Disclosure and Barring Service check (previously a CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificate). I work to a prescribed Code of Ethics for counsellors and hypnotherapists.
