I have been a practising counsellor since 1989, and have built a wealth of professional experience both in my own practice and as a volunteer in a youth counselling service set in a multi-ethnic community. In 1998 I gained a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at Roehampton Institute. Feeling I needed more “tools in my toolbox”, in 1999 I completed a Diploma in Brief Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy with Uncommon Knowledge, a hypnotherapy training organisation recognised by the Hypnotherapy Standards Council. I have diplomas in both Performance and Life Coaching from Newcastle College of Further Education.
I have a private practice and also work for a number of employee-assistance programmes. In both settings my clients come from very diverse backgrounds and present with a wide range of problems such as stress, anxiety, abuse, addictions, bereavement, depression, divorce, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, relationship and sexual difficulties, and many other associated issues. Whatever the problem, I always use an individually tailored approach for each client.
I am a member of the Coaching Academy and the General Hypnotherapy Register and an Accredited Member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. I receive regular supervision from a professionally qualified supervisor and am committed to my continuing professional development. As I often work with children and vulnerable adults, I have a current Enhanced Disclosure Certificate issued by the Criminal Records Bureau. I work to a prescribed Code of Ethics for counsellors and hypnotherapists.
